ITANAGAR, Apr 25: Another feather has been added to the cap of this man who has given his whole life to the cause of education.
He is none other than Bodong Yirang, who has carved a niche as educationist besides making forays into literary circle. Presently working as the joint director of School Education, Yirang has made the state proud by recently winning “North-Eastern Excellent Personalities Award-2008″ for his admirable contribution in the field of socio-cultural and literary hustle and bustle.
A man who never sits idle on his honours and laurels, Yirang has also been nominated for the prestigious “Bharat Excellent Award” and Gold Medal for the year 2009.
It is no wonder that the man has been truly recognized for his remarkable inputs for the cause of the society. During his stint as DDSE in East Siang district and prior to that, as principal of Mebo government higher secondary school, the well-known educationist has left an indelible mark in literary movement of Adi society.
He also donned the mantle of most popular poet in Adi language, when he was chosen for the honour in an Adi poem competition, organized by the Siang Literary Forum at Pasighat, the district headquarters, in 2007. Yirang was also one of the editors of the book of first creative literature in Adi language-’Linggong’.
When it comes to pen lyrics, the man is not found wanting. He showed his true colours by scripting the words for the theme song of Siang River Festival-’Ngo Siang’. Yirang also showed his talent in media circle, contributing a lot as one of the founder member of Pasighat’s first newspaper, East Siang News.
As chairman, Review Committee of Siang Literary Forum, he played a leading role in publishing a number of books of Adi literature. Being associated with a number of socio-cultural organizations, he is not the one to let opportunity slip and has taken all pains and woes for the well-being of the society through his involvement in true sense of the term.
The recent award to Yirang-a man of many parts, has clearly eclipsed the award he had received from East Siang district administration in recognition of his contribution in the field of education and literature in 2006.
