New Delhi, Jul 5 Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu has asked the Centre to step up developmental activities in the areas closer to Sino-Indian border matching with the infrastructure work being carried out by China.
“There is an urgent necessity to develop border areas in our state as China has developed its infrastructure and services on their side to international standards,” Khandu told PTI after a meeting with Home Minister P Chidambaram here.
Khandu said the allocation under the Border Areas Development Programme should be enhanced to match the growing demands of settlers in the areas bordering China.
The chief minister also stressed the need for matching development on Indian side with that on the Chinese side and adopting a policy for advancing administrative centres close to the border and keeping these areas populated.
