Review meeting of tourism department

ITANAGAR, Feb 1: A day long Review Meeting of Tourism Department was held under the chairmanship of Parliamentary Secretary (Tourism), Gojen Gadi in the Conference Half of the Directorate of Tourism, Itanagar today.

All District Tourism Officers, District Planning Officers i/c DTO, Tourist information Officers were present. Bandhana Deori, Secretary (Tourism), A.K. Singh, Director (Tourism) and officers of the department took part in the meeting.

Secretary (Tourism) Bandana Deori elaborating the purpose of the review meeting informed that review of the ongoing projects for infrastructure development in all the districts needs to be done to find out the progress as well as any problems faced by the district officers. Secretary further stressed upon constitution of District Level Tourism Development Committees. All schemes should be duly recommended by the Committee for forwarding to the government of India for sanction. She instructed all the district officers to fix reserve price of all tourism amenities and submit the report for lease out to private parties.

Parliamentary Secretary (Tourism) Gojen Gadi while welcoming the delegates informed that Chief Minister has stressed upon improvement of tourism infrastructures in the state to make tourism at par with other tourist destinations like Sikkim. There is lot of scope in our state as far as tourism potential is concerned. He expressed his desire to bring Tourism in the fore front in the state and excel the department as the most efficient one. For which he requested everyone to work hard and achieve their goals. He also requested Secretary (Tourism) to see that close coordination is maintained among all the officers from the directorate level to the district level for quick and efficient implementation of the schemes. He also informed that henceforth no scheme would be forwarded to the Govt. of India without the recommendation of the newly constituted District Level Tourism Development Committee.

Detailed deliberations were held with the officers district wise on the developmental activities viz., construction of tourist lodges, way side amenities, etc. Scheme wise performances were discussed and problems faced by the district officers were heard.

In the second session of the meeting, discussions were held for identification and development of new hill stations in the state to realize full tourism potentials of Indian Himalayas.
